Business Presentation Style Guide

BUSINESS/FINANCIAL STYLE GUIDE

Correct spelling, grammar and accuracy is very important. Always use spelling and grammar check before uploading.
Please look up all names and acronyms (e.g. EBITDA) to make sure they are correct. You can find valuable information on the company's website. A simple Google search also yields valuable information.
Use one space between sentences and one space between paragraphs.
Use short paragraphs.
Remove stutters, partial words, and false starts.
Correct and clean up minor grammatical mistakes.
Remove 'you know' from the transcripts unless it's necessary.
Do not start a sentence with 'And' 'But' or 'So' unless it's necessary for the sentence to make sense.
Use OK not Okay.
Use (sp) to indicate places and names that might not be spelled correctly.
Use (inaudible) to indicate words or phrases you couldn't understand - especially for Questioners that are too hard to hear. Listen to the word/phrase twice, if you can't understand it, mark (inaudible) and move on.
If you aren't sure about a word or phrase, make a reasonable guess, but [put it in square brackets].
Dollar amounts should look like this: $4.23 million. Do not add the word dollars to it.
Cents should be written as $0.05 for five cents, etc.
The word percent should not be written out, instead put it like this: 7.37%
You do not need to add [begins mid-recording] or [ends abruptly].
Use . . . if the recording starts mid-sentence. Otherwise punctuate as usual.

Speaker Tokens

If there is only one speaker, do not use a speaker token.
You do not need to add a speaker token for the first person speaking. Start using speaker tokens for the second person speaking.
All speaker tokens should be in bold.

For the company executives list their first and last name only.

Most of the time, the questioners are not identified or audible. In that case, use:

(inaudible)

Do not label the questioners as Questioner 1, 2, 3, etc. Just use Questioner for all of the investors/analysts.

If you are not sure of the identify of the company executive that's speaking, use Executive as the speaker token.

If your submitted transcription does not follow these rules, it will be rejected.
